This is straight off B-Roc’s SoulFiesta Blog:

Before we bring in total sunshine to your October, I want to give you this track from Aero — which is just fitting to the news of earthquake in Singapore, the tsunami in Samoa and the floods in Manila. News is a beat I made for the Silverbacks CD. I remember when we recorded it, Aero was bugging me to record and I’ve been putting off our schedule because of how busy I was. Now this guy comes to Manila with months in Bacolod in between so whether I was busy on something — I had to give this AMP member his studio time before he leaves for another stint in Bacolod. I made this beat the day of the session or the night before, I can’t remember — but what I do remember is that Aero didn’t come in late! Hehehe. Had his brew and I let him vibe off the beat. Also, after he wrote the first verse — me and Chrizo challenged him to write the 2nd verse from a third person point of view. Sort of like a reporter, reporting about Aero the storm. You can also hear the anchorman, Chrizo himself, throughout the track.

It was dope and fun to make this song yo, we did it all in less than 3 hours. I don’t think cats get creative with they songs nowadays. Check on Chrizo’s outro — payola, and the gas price increase from last year. Enjoy this one as we set this up for Masskarra!! 3rd World muscle, keep on helping Manila!

Miao VS. SickSongsOnly EP

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

This is straight off Miao’s Miao Wow Blog:

i didn’t get to listen to aero’s sicksongsonly ep when it first came out. i did wait on the eve of the release sometime during the first week of august to download it right away, but for some reason or another i just never got around to checking it out once i had it. real music deserves a real first listen, you know? i wasn’t just going to let it run in the background while my fiance and i were in the car, or while i was doing household chores.

just so it’s clear — yes, i do know aero, but i’ve never met him. it’s a common occurrence, especially for me. hip hop heads in the philippines are tight like that; i’m just lazier than most and i don’t go to gigs anymore. (my bad! haha.) that i know him doesn’t matter; when i do music reviews, it’s always impartial.

on the first listen, one thing stands out. the beats are OFF THE HOOK. traumatik’s productions are on another level — of the three tracks he worked on, “sicksongsonly” (the title track) is the lead in that introduces the killer punchline that is “stop” (easily my favorite track in the ep). b-roc’s work on “season” is also excellent, very forceful and fleshed out. overall, the different producers did a great job of working together to create a singular sound for aero in this ep.

aero does more than step out of his comfort zone in this ep; sicksongsonly is a solid block of sound that you can’t possibly skip through. every single song is great. in “stop” he says, i had to stop being a hardcore hip hop head ’cause hating the mainstream only made hip hop dead. it’s not that he stopped being hardcore; it’s not that he went mainstream. aero strikes a balance here. the lyrics are honest and intelligent, but relatable; he even spits in tagalog in one song. (he says he’s more filipino than rice and tocino!) there’s pride in his verses, but no arrogance. best of all, the instrumentals and the lyrics go together and don’t overpower each other. the tracks as a whole are familiar and digestable; you can bob your head and follow what he’s saying, easily. in short, he came out of nowhere and killed it! like he said, he’s setting trends for the rest of them. let’s hope that’s true.

the cons: it’s too short (i want more!). haha. seriously though, i hope he challenges himself more when he works on his next project. so far my only complaint here is that his cadence and delivery are the same all throughout. it’s a strong statement but it needs to be followed by something new, you know what i mean? still, i haven’t enjoyed a hip hop album like this in a long while. so get cracking on that lp, aero! i can’t wait.

B-Roc VS. SickSongsOnly EP

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

This is straight off B-Roc’s SoulFiesta Blog:

Today, I got to preview Aero’s new EP and Turbulence’s new opus. It’s obvious that Aero goes in and wrecks the tracks with ease. This EP titled SICKSONGSONLY, refering to the number of tracks in the release, is to remind all of y’all who’s sick wit it! (Word to ILL-J!) Chrizo aids Aero with beats on the most part and Chrizo has been puting in work on his beats! Chrizo is now diversifying his drum kits, which caught me off guard, the maturity of his beats in this release exhibits Beyond Beyond mantra’s all over the EP.

On the title track “SICKSONGSONLY”, Aero rhymes “every track is a banger, like I’m rapping with anger/ on Mount Olympus, avalanching, ambulance ‘em/” which sums up how critical we are with our skills. Turbulence welcomes Aero to Mount Olympus, word to Arkane! “SO PINOY” which was recorded a couple of days back has the lines “no politicks I send prayers to the Aquino’s/ for Benigno and Corazon, I’m putting on my yellow/” and by now you know that Cory has passed away. Every mc pushes for relevance and Aero immortalizes this release alongside the traumatik event, no pun intended. Aero’s favorite color is yellow, and yellow is the color of power.

I think we, as a label, continue to out do ourselves with every release. This EP is a prequel to Aero’s debut full length album and marks a newness for us. Download Aero’s new EP here exclusively this monday AUGUST 3.

Thanks B-Roc Obama!

Peace,

Turbulence Productions Signs New Artist

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

I’m forever 3rd World.  I’m still 6000 GOONZ.  I just need a team who trusts my decisions when it comes to making my musick.  Turbulence Productions, thank you very much for welcoming me into your family!

Since mid-2007, I’ve been flying in and out of Manilla from Bacolod grinding hard.  I mean I work with the best in the Philippines, man.  You guys already know who you are.  I thank every single one of you who gave me equal opportunities to get on a track or on a stage and rock with you.  Love me or hate me, I am who I am today because of all of that and in the end, label or no label, aero. is always Hip-Hop.

Right now, I’m coming up with a FREE downloadble EP which will be available on B-Roc’s SoulFiesta BlogSpot by the end of July.  I’m calling it SickSongsOnly and it will contain 6 fresh tracks to be produced by Traumatik, C.H. and B-Roc.  Real heads are in for a treat!  My plan is to allow myself only 3 days in CHRiZO’s Chop Shop to wrap up the whole project.  That choice will ensure the people that everything on it is brand new.  Look out for it soon…
